Packet Core Design Engineer

Position objective

Develop mobile broadband services catalogue considering potential customers’ requirements based on marketing inputs.
Job Description and Responsibilities

· Develop and review core rollout plan that fulfill the packet capacity demand according to the marketing forecasts in line with core network evolution strategy.
· Support marketing products/promotions and services calendar with appropriate solutions and sufficient packet capacity in an efficient and cost effective way.
· Dimension, order/cancel bandwidth to all internal and external entities and apply routing concepts that fully assure adequate resilience, availability, business continuity and minimum Capex/Opex spending.
· Prepare technical studies and sessions that describe new/current releases of HW and SW in order to update and spread knowledge across the core networks team members.
· Recommend the decisions for H/W & S/W upgrades. Study the network implications for these upgrades and prepare business cases for the equipment orders.
· Study the new integration requirements related to new Packet services to mobile gateways and highlight associated impacts.
· Ability to understand and analyze services traffic flows, and prepare Visio network topology diagrams.
· Prepare and modify network routing plans for current and new nodes to ensure smooth integration of new nodes to achieve optimum operation of the network with minimum cost, highest quality and lowest time.
· Provide end to end integration design for new packet nodes integration to all network entities covering all interfaces, Gr, Gn, Gp, Gom, Gi, IuPS, Gb…etc, including L1, L2 and L3 diagrams.
· Provide end to end integration design for new packet services integration to MPLS backbone and VPNs.
· Handling SW roll-out/upgrade projects, expansions and technical support for Packet Core Nodes (GGSN-S/P-GWs, SGSN-MME, etc…)
· Working within established committees to audit and enhance the network based on the client KPIs.
· Follow up and troubleshoot Technical Issues with Operations, Project, development teams and Marketing.
· Responsible of Reviewing Solution Documentations provided by Vendors ( RFP and RFQ) and BU Service Description
· Perform the H/W and functionality testing for the new Core Packet Network nodes.
· Study and investigate the implementation of new Packet Network features and services.
· Prepare and implement the rollout of new PS features and functionalities based on Marketing Calendar and the client requirements.
· Co-ordination with Core Network, IT Billing/Provisioning teams for Data Services Integration, Charging & Subscriber Provisioning.
· Analyzing project progress and provide plan B in case of emergencies or limited time availability.
· Provide periodic reports highlighting achieved tasks, milestones, risks, dependencies…etc.
Qualifications/ Key Personality



· Design, Integration and Troubleshooting skills
· Excellent experience in GGSN/SAE-GW, SGSN-MME and backbone network including AAA, iDNS, eDNS, firewalls, switches, and site routers.
· Knowledge of GSM and mobile network evolutions, 3G, HSPA+, LTE..etc
· Knowledge of IMS and Voice over LTE
· Excellent experience in Gy interfaces, Diameter AVPs, CBB and different charging schemes.
· Knowledge of Gx and dynamic charging.
· IP/MPLS & VPNs Design experience.
· Work within a team.
· Work according to defined processes and work procedures.
· Good communication and customer interaction skills.
· Good communication with suppliers to facilitate the first office application and rollout of new nodes and services.
· Ability to learn.
· Ability to work under pressure.
· Dedicated to work.
